The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Death Notification - Catherine Vecera - Mother of Retired Sgt. Rick Vecera

    We regret to inform you of the death of Catherine Anna Vecera, mother of Retired Sergeant Richard Vecera, on March 15, 2013.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Vecera family at this difficult time.  The following obituary has been reproduced from the Eckhardt Funeral Chapel website.

    Catherine Anna Vecera
    (May 25, 1923 - March 15, 2013)

    Catherine Anna Vecera, 89, of Hampstead died Friday, March 15, 2013 at Long View Nursing Home in Manchester.

    Born May 25, 1923 in Baltimore, She was the daughter of the late Gottlieb F. Litzau and Ida Roese Litzau. She was the wife of the late Frank William Vecera, Sr.

    She was a home maker. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.

    Surviving are her children Frank William Vecera, Jr. and wife Cheryl of Westminster and Richard A. Vecera and wife Debbie; her grandchildren Frank Vecera, III, Robert Vecera, Sandra Vecera, and Melissa Vecera; her 2 great grandchildren; and her sister Nora Reed.

    She was predeceased by her siblings Margaret Donnelly, Hilda Ruby, Howard Litzau, Paul W. Litzau, Thelma Leimkuhler, Amelia Backard, and Earl Litzau.

    The family will receive friends 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Eckhardt Funeral Chapel, P.A., 3296 Charmil Drive, Manchester where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Melvina Stricklin officiating.

    Interment will be in Parkwood Cemetery, Baltimore.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity ones choice.

    Maryland State Police Fallen Heroes Ceremony will held in the MSP Quadrangle at MSP Headquarters, Pikesville, Md.  A luncheon,  provided by the Maryland Troopers Association, will follow the ceremony.
