The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Death Notification - Chrystal S. Maiello, wife of Retired Cpl. John A. Maiello

    We regret to inform you of the death of Chrystal S. Maiello, wife of Retired Cpl. John A. Maiello, on May 26, 2014.  Our thoughts and prayers are with John's friends and family at this difficult time.  The following obituary information has been reprinted from the Gebhardt Funeral Home website.
    Chrystal Spear Maiello
    Rehoboth Beach-Chrystal Spear Maiello, 58, of Rehoboth Beach, and formerly of Salisbury, died Monday, May 26, 2014.
    Chrystal attended Christiana High School in Newark, Del., and Goldey Beacom College. She was employed by GNC for many years.  Chrystal was a former member of Allen Memorial Church in Salisbury. She had a kind and giving heart and was always there with a gift for those people who had been kind to her. Her faith in God was unshakable even in times of difficulty. She devoted all her time and energy to raising her son, whom she always considered a gift from God. She will always be looking down from Heaven upon him, smiling and proud that she was blessed with such a gift. "We will always have a place for her in our hearts and thoughts."
    Chrystal was predeceased by her father, Robert E. Spear, and her mother, Margie L. Spear. She is survived by her husband, John, and son, John Christopher, both of New York; siblings, Roy W. (Patty) Hankinson of Virginia Beach, Va., Sharron L. Johnson of Hockessin, Robbinn L.(Bill) Ferguson of Salisbury, Robert E. (Elaine) Spear of Lewes, Kathleen M. (Jeff) Burr of Newark; and many nieces and nephews.
    Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, at noon at Life Community Church, 750 Otts Chapel Road, Newark, DE 19713, where a viewing will begin at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Port Penn, Del.
