The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Death Notification - Retired Sergeant Thomas C. Langdon

    We regret to inform you of the death of Retired Sergeant Thomas C. Langdon on September 15, 2014.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.   The following information has been reprinted from the Raymond Funeral Home website.


    Obituary for Thomas Cleota Langdon
    Thomas Cleota Langdon of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, formerly of Waldorf, MD, died on September 15, 2014 in Myrtle Beach. He was 80 years old.
    Born on May 6, 1934 in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late Lillian and Cleota Langdon. Mr. Langdon served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War attached to the Special Forces and Green Beret units. Following his service in the military, he then served as a Maryland State Trooper for many years before retiring. He was an active member of the V.F.W. and was Past Worshipful Master of the Perseverance Masonic Lodge in Indian Head, MD. He was a very loving father, grandfather and great grandfather who loved his country and was proud to be an American.
    In addition to his parents, Thomas Langdon was preceded in death by his son Mark T. Langdon and his grandson Cody Langdon.
    He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Gladys Langdon; his daughters Sharron M. Winkler of White Plains, MD and Brenda D. Arnold of Myrtle Beach, SC; his son Michael D. Langdon of Newburg, MD; his grandchildren Gregg Arnold, Mark Winkler, Emily Brown, Jessie Herbert and Colton Langdon; his great grandchildren Adam, Sophia and Cameron; his sister Nancy Gatewood of FL; his brother Keith Langdon of TN.
    Visitation on Friday, September 19, 2014 from 11AM until time of service at 1PM at the Raymond Funeral Service, P.A. 5635 Washington Avenue La Plata, MD 20646.
    Interment to follow at St. Joseph’s Church Cemetery in Pomfret, MD.
