The Maryland Troopers Association

The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.

  • Trooper 2 Memorial Fundraiser

    June 22, 2015

    Dear Friend,
On behalf of the Maryland State Trooper 2 Memorial Committee, I would like to share an important opportunity for Maryland business owners, and individuals. It is the opportunity to thank the first responders who keep Maryland safe, and in particular to thank and honor the two helicopter crew members of Maryland State Trooper 2, and the Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department Medical Technician who died serving the Maryland community on September 27th 2008.
A memorial is planned for installation in Walker Mill Park, in Prince George’s County near the crash site, with another smaller marker at the actual crash scene.
The monument dimensions are 6.6’ high by 4.5’ wide, granite and bronze.  Our anticipated budget is approximately forty- five thousand dollars.  Donations are urgently needed to make this memorial a lasting tribute to the sacrifice made by these brave first responders and their families. Tax deductible donations can be sent to:
    The Waldorf Volunteer Fire Department
    MSP Trooper 2 Memorial Fund
