The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Frederick Area Law Enforcement Open House

    (FREDERICK, MD) – The Maryland State Police will be joining the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office and area law enforcement and emergency services agencies in a community open house tomorrow as they work to inform citizens about their public safety roles and enhance relationships with the people they serve.
    The open house will be held August 18, 2016, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Frederick County Law Enforcement Center, 110 Airport Drive East, Frederick.  All ages are welcome and will have plenty to see that will both entertain and educate.
    Events include a police motorcycle demonstration, K-9 demonstrations, an interactive crime scene station, tours of the law enforcement center and a variety of public safety vehicle and information displays.  In addition to Lt. Wayne Wachsmuth and his staff at the Frederick Barrack, representatives of the Maryland State Police will include:
    Recruiting Unit – We are hiring and recruiters will explain requirements and how to apply
    Aviation Command – Weather permitting, the crew of Trooper 3 will be landing behind the MVA
    Motorcycle Unit – Troopers will conduct a riding demonstration
    S.T.A.T.E. Team – See the armored vehicle and talk with troopers on our SWAT Team
    Underwater Recovery Team – State Police divers will have their boat and equipment displayed
    Licensing Division – Questions about regulated firearm purchases?  Get them answered.
    Patrol Vehicles – See the technology and equipment in patrol cars up close.
    The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office will have similar displays.  Other agencies represented include the Frederick County Emergency Communications and the Frederick County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.
    Special guest appearances at the open house will be made by Miss Maryland, Hannah Brewer, just weeks before she competes in the Miss America pageant, and Miss Maryland’s Outstanding Teen, Allison LaForce.  Face painting, a moon bounce, snow cones and plenty of giveaway items will all be available.  The event is free and all are invited to stop by and take advantage of this opportunity to learn more about law enforcement and rescue services in Frederick Co.
