The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Death Notification - Lawrence K. Williams, Jr. - Son of Retired M.A. Betty J. Williams

    November 21, 2016



    We regret to inform you of the death of Mr. Lawrence K. Williams, Jr. on November 17, 2016. Mr. Williams was the son of Retired Management Assistant Betty Williams and her husband Larry.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Betty and her family at this difficult time.  
    The funeral will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016, at the Grace Presbyterian Church, 350 McKee Road, Dover, Delaware at 10:30 A.M.  
    Cards may be sent to Betty and her husband at 91 White Horse Rd., Berlin, Md. 21811.  
    The following obituary information has been reprinted from the Faries Funeral Home website. 
    Lawrence Kenneth Williams, Jr., "Ken", age 50, of Smyrna, DE went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 17, 2016. He was born October 22, 1966 in Annapolis, MD, the son of Lawrence Williams, Sr. and Betty J. Payne Williams of Annapolis, MD. Ken was employed by Pike Creek Psychological Center as a Mental Health Therapist. In addition to serving the Lord as a professional counselor, Ken also had a heart for Youth and Music Ministry. He always put God first in everything he did. He loved life and spending time with his family and friends.
    In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Lisa; three children, Gabriela, Logan and Brandon; his sister, Stephanie (David) Walkley of Centreville, MD; his niece Natalie Palmatary, also of Centreville; his uncle, Jack Williams of San Antonio, TX; his brother-in-law, Roland Zaleta (Ashlee) and niece, Eden Zaleta of Greenfield, IN; and his in-laws, Leo and Vicky Zaleta of Hopewell, NJ.
    A visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:30 am at Grace Presbyterian Church, located at 350 McKee Rd. in Dover.  Funeral services will begin at 12 pm.
    Burial services will be held on Monday, November 28, 2016 at 1100 hours, at the Hillcrest Cemetery, 1911 Forest Drive, Annapolis, Md. 21401.
