The Maryland Troopers Association

 

The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  
 
 

 
 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 


1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Death Notification - Retired Sergeant Dennis M. Hooper

    February 16, 2017

     

    We regret to inform you of the death of Retired Sergeant Dennis M. Hooper.  Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this difficult time.  The following obituary information has been reprinted from the Pritts Funeral Home website.

     

    Obituary for Dennis Mark Hooper

    Dennis Mark Hooper, 53, of Finksburg, passed away on Thursday, February 16, 2017 in Westminster.

    Dennis was born on October 8, 1963 in Baltimore, MD and was the son of the late Thomas Carroll Hooper and Caroline Elizabeth (Ball) Hooper of Westminster. He was the loving husband of Tamera Jo (Fishel) Hooper, whom he married in 1989.

    Dennis graduated from Westminster High School in 1981. He was employed with the Maryland State Police until his retirement as Sergeant in 2010.  After retirement he was employed for Walden Security. Dennis liked hunting, fishing, riding his motorcycle, and always enjoyed having a good time.

    Surviving in addition to his mother and wife is son Brett A. Hooper of Westminster; sister and brother-in-law Carole L. and George Shipley of Westminster; brother David Hooper of Westminster; niece and nephew Kevin and Kendall Shipley of Westminster; brother-in-law and sister- in-law Mark and Debbie Fishel of Bel Air, brother-in-law Brad Fishel of Hampstead, sister-in-law Tracey Jones of Reisterstown, and brother-in-law Shawn Kilgore of Westminster.

    The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 19, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8pm at Pritts Funeral Home and Chapel, 412 Washington Rd., Westminster. Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private.

    Memorial contributions may be made in his name to The Granted Wish Foundation, 7749 Supreme Ave. NW, North Canton, OH 44720.

    Maryland State Police Fallen Heroes Ceremony will held in the MSP Quadrangle at MSP Headquarters, Pikesville, Md.  A luncheon,  provided by the Maryland Troopers Association, will follow the ceremony.
