The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

    We regret to inform you of the death of Retired First Sergeant Donald E. Hoffman on July 31, 2017.  Our thoughts and prayers are with Don's family and friends at this difficult time.  Funeral arrangements have been made at Elines Funeral Home, 11824 Reisterstown Road, Reisterstown, MD 21136.  Viewings will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM and again from 7:00 to 9:00 PM.  Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home.  Graveside service will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 1:30 PM at the Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742.


    Obituary Information from Elines Funeral Home


    Donald Eugene Hoffman, age 67 of Finksburg, died Monday July 31, 2017 at Gilchrist Hospice Center of Towson, MD. Born February 1, 1950, he was the proud son of the late J. Russel Hoffman and Hilda L. Hoffman Bailey. He was the loving husband to Margaret Sue Hoffman Powers Zebec of Finksburg, MD of 26 years. He was a proud step parent and step grandparent.
    He enjoyed living in his country estate with his wife, family and animals. He was very proud of his total years of service to the United States and the State of Maryland through service in the United States Army, Vietnam, 1970-1971, Maryland State Police 1972-1995 and Office of the Attorney General August 1995 through present time. Service was a large part of Don's life. 
    In addition to his wife, he is survived by sister, Rebecca McDaniel, Shepherdstown, WV, step sons Danny Zebec of Rising Sun, MD, and Eric Powers of Westminster, MD. Niece: Sarah Stare of Chambersburg, PA., and grandchildren Joey Zebec, Ashlynn Zebec, Reagyn Powers & Rylynn Powers. 
    The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 3-5pm and 7-9pm at Eline Funeral Home at 11824 Reisterstown Rd, Reisterstown, MD 21136. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 4, 2017 at 11 AM at Eline Funeral Home at 11824 Reisterstown Rd, Reisterstown, MD 21136 as well as a commencement service at Rest Haven Funeral Chapel 1601 Pennsylvania Ave, Hagerstown, MD 21742.
