The Maryland Troopers Association


The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.  

 To Register as a new user on the Maryland Troopers site, follow these steps: 

1. Mouse over the "Troopers Only" tab and a drop down menu will appear. 

2. Click on "Register". 

3. Fill out the information requested and submit.

4. An e-mail will be sent to your registered e-mail address to confirm that it is legitimate.

5. Follow confirmation instructions  

6. The webmaster will check your status and complete the authorization process.  

7. In the future, Click on "Log In" under the "Troopers Only" tab and use your new Username and Password whenever logging in.

  • Death Notification - Mr. Harvey Groner - Father of Fallen Hero Mark P. Groner

    The Maryland Troopers Association regrets to inform you of the death of Mr. Harvey Groner, Jr. on November 21, 2011.  Mr. Groner was the father of Trooper First Class Mark P. Groner who was killed in the line of duty on October 1, 1992.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the Groner family at this difficult time.

    On November 21, 2011, HARVEY HAROLD GRONER, Jr.; cherished husband of the late Carol Anne Spicer Groner; loving father of Lisa L. Kline, Harvey H. Groner III, and the late Mark P. Groner; beloved grandfather of Daniel C. Groner; dear brother of William, Dana, Kenneth, & Martin Groner and Mary Louise Abriss.

    Harvey was born in Easton, Pennsylvania to Mary & Harvey Groner, Sr. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Army, and later on in the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Harvey owned his own heating and refrigeration company, Harvey Services, Inc. He belonged to C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors), Past Master of the Liberty Masonic Lodge 219, and the Boumi Temple Shriners. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Maryland C.O.P.S. : COPS Treasurer, P.O. Box 392, Princess Anne, MD 21853.

    Viewing will be held on Wednesday, November 23, 2011 at the Singleton Funeral Home in Glen Burnie, visitation from 3:00 pm - 5:00pm and from 7:00pm - 9:00 pm.   The funeral will be at the Singleton Funeral Home, at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 25th. Mr. Groner will be laid to rest at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens following the service.

    Maryland State Police Fallen Heroes Ceremony will held in the MSP Quadrangle at MSP Headquarters, Pikesville, Md.  A luncheon,  provided by the Maryland Troopers Association, will follow the ceremony.
