The Maryland Troopers Association

The Maryland Troopers Association was organized in 1979 for the purpose of advancing the principles of professionalism in law enforcement and to facilitate a meaningful dialogue between employees and the Administration concerning issues of mutual concern.  This Association contributes significantly to protecting the security of troopers, civilian MSP personnel and retirees by providing a benefit package that addresses legislative representation in matters of public safety, legal representation, education and training scholarships, and death relief.

The year 2017 membership of the MTA stands at approximately 2,629 of which 1,120 are active members and 1,509 are retirees.  To facilitate the effective management and participation of our members, the MTA has 13 Lodges located thoughout the State of Maryland.   Please visit our lodges section for more detailed information concerning the lodges.

Here is a list of some of the best hotels we have in Portland and South Portland. Please don’t wait to the last minute to make reservations as you can see there are cutoff dates for these rooms.

The Portland hotels are in what we call the “Old Port” or downtown, while the South Portland hotel  is a 5-7 minute drive to the Old Port. The Old Port section of Portland will also be the center or starting point for most of the events .     The Maine Mall is directly across from the Wyndham hotel for families that may be accompanying Troopers to Maine but not attending the picnic.

The rates are set for September 12th and 13th, but can be extended for more dates if necessary. If you have any questions feel free to call or e-mail me. 207-671-5767 or douglas.cropper@maine.gov /svp@mainestatetroopers.com

VENDORS- The MSTA will NOT be charging a booth fee for vendors at this picnic. However, if you are a vendor from far away and you choose not to bring tables to display your merchandise,  we will be renting tables. Purchase of picnic tickets to enter the event will be mandatory. Please register your booth and table rentals with Rob Nichols at robert.n.nichols@maine.gov  by August 1st .
