There is an Angel tree at the Texas Roadhouse in Westminster containing angel cards with gifts needed for the Christmas for Kids campaign. Anyone wishing to help with our annual Christmas for Kids project can pick up at card from the tree and have the needed gift returned to the Texas Roadhouse by 12-11-11. All gifts will be used at our Christmas for Kids party on 12-17-11.

The ballots from this year's MTA election were counted and certified by the Accounting Firm of Wilner & Scherr on September 27, 2011. The results of the election were as follows: Ballots Returned: 964 Christopher Sasse - 499 Brian Gill - 465 Christopher Sasse was declared the winner of this election and will serve as the Vice-President of the Maryland Troopers Association for the next two years. NEW TROOPERS GRADUATE (SYKESVILLE, MD) -- Colonel Marcus L. Brown today presided over his first graduation as Superintendent of the Maryland State Police as he presented badges and diplomas to more than four dozen new state troopers. The 52 members of the 137th Trooper Candidate Class proudly marched across the stage at Century High School today to the cheers and congratulations of their families, friends, and new fellow troopers.

Maryland Troopers Association Lodge #20 Annual Christmas for Kids Golf Tournament Each year MTA Lodge #20's non-profit, Troopers of Carroll County Caring for Kids, provides meals and presents for underprivileged children and families in Carroll County. Last year we provided Christmas presents and a party for over thirty families, nearly 100 children! We have also expanded our efforts to help families with the money raised by this event.

Legislative Update from Bernard Shaw Maryland Troopers Association Lobbyist 4/8/11 House Bill 70 - Budget Bill Fiscal Year 2012 House Bill 72 - Budget Reconciliation and Financing Act of 2011 On 4/8/11 the Senate and the House concurred with the Conference Committee on both of these bills. The Conference Committee concurred on the following amendments. Healthcare and Prescription Plan For Active and Retired Members the co-pays for prescriptions will be as follows: Generic Drugs: Co-pays go from $5 to $10 Preferred Brand: Co-pays go from $15 to $25 Non-preferred Brand Co-pays go from $25 to $40 For retirees, the out-of-pocket cap will go from $700 to $1500 per year.
